Protective Cases
This is my first try. But here goes.
I am planning to take it with me on a SAA flight later this month, but the case will also serve as a waterproof storage case when needed.
The dimensions are roughly 28cm x 25cm x 13cm
I picked it up at R 550. The supplier is stil in its infancy, and I am sure the price might still change as the closest I could get in comparison was a Pelican case at almost R 900.
This is the first photo of it closed. The latches seem to be very sturdy, and the seals actually closes airtight. You can hear the vacuum release once open it if you compress it a bit before closing.
It has 2 places to use a lock, apparently they do have models with built in locks in the latches, but these seem fine for anti tampering operations.
It comes with an insert that you can strip and lay out just the way you want to by removing smal blocks about .5cm X .5cm. Very nifty idea, and it seems to work well.
This is it as I am going to use it. There is another layer at the bottom for more mags etc.
Its pretty nondescript when closed. It seals well and I have used toilet paper on the inside while it was submerged to see how waterproof it actually is.
I have not drop tested it yet, but the way equipment and I go together I should have a very good idea of the real ruggedness of the case within a short space of time.
Will keep you posted on how well it works over the next few months.
