Re: .22LR Beretta for SD for now
Hostage, the 948 is reliable, but has first generation mag release and safety catch. It is built on the Beretta M1934 frame but in aluminium, the safety is a swing over link and mag release old Walther style. It has a different disassembly protocol than the later Berettas. They were manufactured early/mid 1950s. In the late 1950s the Model 70 came out with a push button safety and better disassembly and push button on the side of the grip for mag release. Later it changed to the M71 and M76 with 1911 style safety. If your pistol is in a reasonable condition, I will buy you a later model Beretta 22 in exchange for the 948. All Berettas 22s are great pistols, but the 948 is better off in my collection, than used as a plinker.

Hostage, take up corriedewilde's deal. Let him buy you a great M71 or M76 then you have the "better" SD model and he has a 948 for his collection. The M71 will certainly be better suited for everyday carry and SD as the controls are easier to use.
