Re: Elysuim, and Sharlto Copley
I enjoyed the movie, I didn't find it preachy or very political at all. Everyone in the cinema enjoyed all the SA references quite a lot.
The American reviewers seem to love the accent for some reason.

I did not think the accent was Afrikaans at all. What do we (Boertjies) sound like that when we have an attempt at Ingrish?
Van nou af praat ek nie weer Engels nie, want dan klink dit asof jy vertraag is.
But I did enjoy the movie, not as much as District 9 but a OK attempt at the SF genre.

Re: Elysuim, and Sharlto Copley
Saw it over the weekend. The SA mercs definitely stole the show. As far as painting a negative picture of you lot… I don't think so. They could have made them Aussies or Maoris, or Scots and it wouldn't matter. It just gave a bit of extra personality to the bad guys. I thought it was great choice and being an American w/ample experience in S.Africa, I got a lot of laughs out of the "S.Africanisms."
…Just an outsider's perspective.
