What happens to your gun if you are in a serious car crash and taken to hospital,etc?

Saw an accident last night in the center parking lot - the tow away guys were very professional as were the SAPS and Metro.

Before the guy was taken away by the police (apparently he was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay over the limit) the tow away guys searched his car and handed ALL personal belongings to him - including a big bag of money. They and the Metro guys then proceeded to search the car for a firearm, before the car was taken away.

PS It was a newish Toyota Hilux double cab 4x4 automatic - the estimated damage is R200,000

Honestly, many of the tow operators are very professional. Obviously they are not your intellectual types but most of them are actually pretty decent. As is often the case, a few bad apples give everyone a bad name
