Looking forward to see how that handle turns out, Gert.

I simply love Olienhout.... the smell while working it is just sublime!

Are you going to fill cracks in the wood with some sort of resin, Gert?

I think this method of making a handle will make for spectacular end grain on the knife handle of this Olive wood ...This is definitely a technique I will be starting to use more frequently..

What I aim to do is to see how tight fit I can get after sanding all the ends flat on my belt sander..I did do it already , this was after taking photos...I am currently completed another knife blade I forged this morning into a Leuko type of blade...both these knifes will get this type of handles fitted tomorrow....

Looking very good there Gert. Great work. Its really great that you try different methods.

Ps. I tried to edit my previous post but didn't find that function.

Yes, you are right, it has a great smell, sometimes it smells like Tamato sauce , but really great wood to work with...I sanded the ends of every wood piece as flat as possible to have a tight glued unit ...will peen the brass plate onto the back when everything is epoxied onto the stiff of the blade...I want to use sanding sealer to seal the wood and fill it with beeswax then buff the beeswax into the wood on my buff machine
