Default Who can make a bush knife?

I was in the Kruger park a couple of months ago, and I saw some rangers with these really awesome knives strapped to their backpacks, the knives had cord wrapped handles and a curved blade not unlike a Ghurka knife. The rangers explained that the knives had been donated by Heavin Forge in Dullstroom!

I phoned up Heavin Forge but they said that the knives were a special project for Kruger Park, and they don't do orders. I really want to support local so if anybody knows of a knife maker who may be able to help preferably in the cape town area?

Check over at SABlade.com there are a few.

Best bet would be Stewert (stu) Smith I guess. He makes awesome bowies etc.

Or check Anton de Beer. Google him. He will do custom order and he prefers tactical style knives..

I had a look at this and it is very similar to what I want, possibly slightly shorter and narrower with a cord wrapped handle, and then I will be smiling!

If I may, cold steel makes a kukri and a machete, they are awesome! I have one and have used it frequently. Its inexpensive and tough.

In the absence of a FA I always take a machete in the cab/chalet when we go to Moz. Max visual effect on BGs and totally legal.

I have an original khukri from Nepal. It was given to me by my old man who worked with two guys from Nepal. I doubt I would ever use it but if the chips where up I think it would make a formidable weapon.
Forged from a leaf spring it has done good weight on it.
