Re: An Affirmation to bear arms
Good post
Consider again - South African Bill of rights, the basic right to life, (implied also therefore the right to defend that right to life - by whatever means a citizen deems fit - a choice that should also be free ) including therefore the right to choose to own and bear arms for legitimate self defence reasons.
The Constitution is the supreme law of South Africa, any law regulation or conduct inconsistent with it - is invalid (Article 2(1) of the SA Constitution)
Safeguards for legitimate defence of ones life. By whatever means you choose including the right to choose and own a firearm for this purpose.
Article 7
Article 8 (1)
Article 10
Article 11(2)

Re: An Affirmation to bear arms
I like your style and it is a nice post but, without guns it is currently viewed by the ruling regime much as MoegApie viewed the Lancaster House Agreement:"that dirty piece of paper."
We should not place our hopes on the Constitution alone.
We should state our case publicly, and as often as possible.

Re: An Affirmation to bear arms
Consider what you are implying.
The day a ruling regime has no respect for its country's Constitution which was unanimously approved by its parliament; the nation as a whole has far bigger problems than civilian firearms ownership to attend to.
Also if the supreme court and constitutional court and its officers just casually stand by and watch the basic rights of citizens erode, and do nothing to protect these rights, the same challenge applies.
A sad day that will be.

WOW, I'm a principle of SAGA and didnt know it.
The post compiled by Robert was from information from Peter Moss, Dick Boothroyd and myself, its contents are due to be released in the USA in the near fuiure although he never stated where and to what end. Robert was unaware that GFSA was funded by George Soros and the Rowntree Foundation in the UK (among others).

Hits the proverbial nail right on the head!!!

Unfortunately this is EXACTLY what is being experienced on a daily basis in South Africa.
What better reason for wanting to own property other than "because I WANT it!" could there be?
The moment we start agreeing with those that would place restrictions on that, we have fallen into their trap, and will LOSE.

Re: An Affirmation to bear arms
It came to my attention this morning, that the police have and are raiding various dealers in theWestern Cape with the intention to prosecute wherever possible for any misdemeanour's however small or petty. Infractions include ammunitionhanded into dealers by the public and not booked into theirammunition stock book, one dealer was given an administrative fine of R5000. One dealer told the senior officer, “And you wonder why thepolice are hated and detested by the public,” only to be told, “We're only carrying out orders.”
Hands up all of those who feel they can trust the police and government
