Re: What happens IF the ANC does not get re-elected
But the Candians like it because they have kept him there, even though he treated the truck drivers like terrorists and youd think their voter base is educated, unlike our masses.
I saw a Tik Tok clip with JJ Tabane chatting about how the current crop of leaders are looting as much as possible, before financial year end and the money has to go back to treasury and the fear of losing the election and not being in the looting seat again or retiring or not having the same government job after elections. He says they are looting as much as they can right now and we will only learn about it later.
I'm sure as history has shown us. Nothing will happen to those people.

Re: What happens IF the ANC does not get re-elected
I wouldn't bet on the outcome of the general election because I just can't figure out the probability. I can only say that it might get interesting. Frans Cronje has just told BizNews that his organisation (Social Research Foundation?) has polled 37% support for the ANC. He supported that low figure by pointing out that the Brenthurst Foundation recently polled 39% and RW Johnson 41%. Those are close enough to indicate a fair degree of reliability but of course it remains to be seen. Cronje's poll indicated ANC 37, MK 13, EFF 11 and IFP 5%. He told BizNews that MK's 13% jibes with the recent expectation that ANC would get either side of 50 ie 50-13=37, and pointed out that it is also consistent with the finding that one third of ANC supporters said that they would desert the ANC if they could find another suitable political home. The first thing that we can conclude is that the DA's idea of a DA led coalition government is a no-hoper but that's what I've always thought. The big question is whether MK or EFF will coalesce with ANC. Despite their declared enmity they are of the same ploitical stripe, and will they be able to refuse power especially if they can extract the price of meaningful influence over policy. Welcome vice pres Malema. Or JZ.

Re: What happens IF the ANC does not get re-elected
More recent info particularly from the Social Research Foundation (Frans Cronje) tends to confirm my belief that we are likely to get another five years of ANC, in coalition with either MK or EFF or both. Dr Corner Mulder told BizNews this week that SA can't survive that.
The DA's multi party alliance said that it would not ally with ANC or EFF but Reuters reported John Steehuisen's "don't rule anything out" remarks that can reasonably be interpreted as reneging on that. I have asked my Ward Councillor to confirm or deny that but no reply. But even if we see an ANC/DA coalition the DA will be the junior partner and utterly unable to reverse any ANC policy especially in a parliament that includes significant numbers of MK and EFF. Doesn't look good but we'll find out at end of May.

I'm pretty sure we're doomed to bottom out before we start coming out of the hole. Our electorate values everything but the stuff proven to make countries prosperous. The most fubar parts of the country consistently elect the same people who made it that way or the next worse option.

Exactly. Helen Zille can crow as much as she likes about a tiny handful of black DA mayors but the DA's desirory support north of the WC speaks for itself. Almost all the ANC loss since 2004 has gone to the EFF so all we've seen is the majority black voters turning left.

Re: What happens IF the ANC does not get re-elected
The 69ers of our electorate are going to do what they do and we'll be further down the hole than before. A long time ago a senior bank exec in Kenya who came from a family who'd been heavily involved in their fight for independence told me that SA would have to experience collapse before our voters would realize that a government of freedom fighters pretty much always fuck everything up. Turns out he was on the money sadly.
